Text Box: The Cottonwood Pugs Story “Why Cottonwood for the name of the kennel?” you ask. A certified master groomer, Kathy Getter is the owner and operator of Cottonwood Kennels and has been grooming, training, breeding and showing pure breed dogs for over 30 years. She is currently grooming at Doggy Office Doggy Daycare in Brookfield Wisconsin. Cottonwood Kennels got its name while Kathy and her husband Bill were living in New Mexico in the city of Alamogordo. Alamogordo translates from Spanish as “Big Cottonwood” thus the cottonwood connection. The kennel name has remained as Kathy and Bill have moved around the country—first to Florida and most recently to Wisconsin. The kennel is currently located in Waukesha Wisconsin near Milwaukee. Pugs have been the focus of Kathy’s breeding and showing program since the very beginning of the kennel.
